Ukraine expects the next package of EU sanctions against russia in the fall after the active political season resumes in the EU

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said this on the air of the national telethon, Rubryka reports.

"Currently, the EU has a pause in August. It doesn't mean that our partners have entirely turned off and the work has stopped.

But we expect the next package of sanctions already in the fall after the active political season resumes in the EU," Kuleba said.

At the same time, the minister did not comment on the details of the new package of sanctions.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine has a "clear understanding of what it offers to partners and what it wants to see there."

"We have already actively worked with the states, our friends in the European Union so that they make appropriate proposals.

Next will be a negotiation process, based on the results of which there will be a package," added Kuleba.

To recap, on July 26, the Council of the EU decided to extend restrictive measures regarding specific sectors of the russian economy for six months, until January 31, 2023. 

Since February 24, the EU has adopted a series of unprecedented and harsh sanctions packages in response to russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The EU introduced the latest, seventh sanctions package since the beginning of the war in July.

The sanctions include a ban on the purchase, import, and direct or indirect transfer of gold from the russian federation, including through third countries. The ban also extended to jewelry.
