Zelensky's office revealed conditions for resuming negotiations with russia
Renewal of negotiations between Ukraine and russia is possible only if several critical tactical defeats of the aggressor state are achieved. Otherwise, the russian federation will reject them or try to deceive the contracting parties.
Mykhailo Podolyak, the adviser to the head of the President's Office, said this in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro.
"Unfortunately, it is impossible to agree with russia today. russia will definitely reject or try to deceive the contracting parties. It is making full use of its expansionist capabilities and wants to advance the status quo, which is unacceptable for Ukraine. Therefore, it must be understood that the negotiation process with russia is possible only under the condition of several important tactical defeats," he said.
Podolyak noted that russia could not seize more Ukrainian territories. It uses the strategy of terrorist attacks, deliberately striking places where only civilians are present.
"Their goal is to demoralize and sow panic among the population so that it pressures the government and demands the immediate signing of a peace treaty under any conditions. But Ukraine is now extremely mobilized, and the population understands that the sacrifices it is making today are necessary for victory over russia," Podolyak said.
The adviser to the head of the OP added that there are currently no contacts at the military-political level between Ukraine and the russian federation. However, there is a dialogue regarding the humanitarian component — the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of fallen fighters, humanitarian corridors, and negotiations through intermediaries regarding the export of grain.
Podolyak emphasized that Ukraine seeks victory and the liberation of all its territories.
"This is a condition for the survival of the Ukrainian nation. putin has said more than once that his goal is not just the seizure of a certain territory, but the complete seizure of Ukraine with the destruction of the current essence of the Ukrainian state," he said.
Podolyak noted that world leaders must understand that this war is a war of democracy against authoritarianism. If russia wins, it will dominate Europe and try to advance on other countries, such as Poland, the Baltic states, and Moldova.
Ukraine's victory over russia will ensure a peaceful future for Europe and other countries of the world — without energy, migration, food blackmail, and the threat of a new armed conflict.
"Ukrainians are ready to die for freedom, and they are dying for it. The task of Europe is simply to support us. Give us weapons, give us financial help, and let us win this war! We are ready to give our blood so that people remain free and the European Union remains free. Today, the historical configuration of the European community for the next fifty to one hundred years is being determined," Podolyak added.
