Ukraine’s FM calls on CBS to conduct an internal investigation into film Arming Ukraine

Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, called on the American TV channel CBS to conduct an internal investigation into misleading a massive audience with statements that Western weapons don't reach the Ukrainian military, made in the documentary film Arming Ukraine.

Kuleba said this on Twitter, commenting on the CBS channel's statement about removing a tweet advertising the film.

"[We] welcome the first step, but it is not enough. You have misled a huge audience by sharing unsubstantiated claims and damaging trust in supplies of vital military aid to a nation resisting aggression and genocide. There should be an internal investigation into who enabled this and why," the head of Ukrainian diplomacy wrote.

The film Arming Ukraine was released on CBS on August 4.

Among other things, the American Andrew Milburn, the founder of the Mozart Group military company, which specializes in military training, claims that some Western weapons—drones, body armor, helmets, etc.—don't reach the front line.

Earlier, the adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, denied the information presented in the CBS documentary that the weapons supplied by the West didn't reach the Ukrainian military and stated that russia sought to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of Western societies by insinuating the "black arms market."

Later, CBS stated that they updated the article promoting the documentary to reflect changes since the CBS Reports documentary Arming Ukraine was filmed, and the documentary is also being updated. They noted, "Jonas Ohman [the founder of the nonprofit Blue-Yellow] says the delivery has significantly improved since filming with CBS in late April. The government of Ukraine notes that US defense attaché Brigadier General Garrick M. Harmon arrived in Kyiv in August 2022 for arms control and monitoring."

Visegrád 24 media has reported that CBS misleadingly used Jonas Ohman's quote that 30% percent of aid was getting to Ukraine's frontline. They stated on Twitter:

"Why are you still not admitting that your information was false as the 30% quote only applied to the non-military aid sent by a specific NGO [Blue-Yellow], which has nothing to do with U.S. military aid?"
