First innovative solar energy system installed in Ukraine
SmartFlower innovative solar energy system was installed in Ternopil city, western Ukraine.
"SmartFlower system uses advanced robotics and automation to intelligently track the sun making up to 40% more energy than traditional stationary solar panels. The flower panel starts with the first rays of the sun. Dust and debris are removed from the panel with special brushes. The device directs its petals toward the sun at a 90-degree angle. The petal modules fold up at night or when the sensors detect strong wind that can damage the device," Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal told.
According to him, the capacity of the solar energy system reaches 2.5 kW, so it is possible to obtain from 4,000 to 6,200 kW of energy per year, depending on the weather. In addition, the indisputable advantage of SmartFlower system is its mobility as the panels can be easily moved to a new location, be it a roof, yard or even a car.
As reported, Ukraine has managed to achieve significant results in the development of renewable energy in recent years. Only at the beginning of 2022, its total installed capacity amounted to 9.5 GW, and the investments in the industry reached $12 billion. The pace of its development was likely to continue to grow, but now half of the renewable energy facilities are at risk of complete or partial destruction due to the war.
