It was stated by the European Commission's official representative, Arianna Podesta, in response to Gazprom's statement, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
She explained that EU sanctions against russia do not apply to equipment and technology related to industrial gas transportation to the European Union.
"And Nord Stream is not subject to sanctions. In our opinion, there is nothing in this package of (economic) sanctions that could prevent the "repatriation" of this turbine," she said.
The head of the group of official representatives of the European Commission, Erim Mamer, added that nothing in the sanctions could interfere with the turbine, which was clearly stated earlier.
"And what the russians say about this is actually just an excuse not to supply gas to the European Union," he continued.
Mamer also called blackmail the actions of the russian side in the field of energy supplies to the European Union.
