UN Secretary-General: UN to launch fact-finding mission on Olenivka attack circumstances

The international organization wants to launch a mission to establish the facts of the death of defenders in the occupied Olenivka in the Donetsk region

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated this, Radio Svoboda reports.

As the UN Secretary-General noted, both Ukraine and russia appealed to the United Nations with a request to conduct an investigation.

Currently, the mission's terms of reference are being prepared, which will be agreed upon by both parties.

Events in Olenivka

We will remind that on Friday morning, the russian media reported on the shelling of the colony in Olenivka, the Donetsk region, where Ukrainian prisoners were kept. Propagandists claimed that there was at least 53 dead.

The General Staff of Ukraine denied the accusations of the russian federation that the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out the attack.

According to the General Staff, the russians tried to hide the torture and murder of prisoners.

Intelligence agencies believe that the killing of Ukrainian prisoners in Olenivka, the Donetsk region, was organized by the mercenaries of the "Wagner" PMC on the personal instructions of Yevhen Prigozhin, without coordinating it with the leadership of the russian Ministry of Defense.

"Azov" units announced a hunt for all involved in the mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka on July 29.

As Rubryka reported, the Red Cross stated today that the russian side did not grant the Organization's representatives access to the colony in the occupied Olenivka, where approximately 40 Ukrainian servicemen died and 130 were wounded.

Meanwhile, new satellite images of the colony before and after the killing of the Ukrainian military have been released, showing that the building was blown up from the inside.

On July 30, Human Rights Commissioner Lubinets stated that the Ukrainian side had begun the procedure of returning the bodies of those killed in the Olenivka Colony.

We are talking about sending a corresponding request to return the bodies of the dead to the Ukrainian-controlled territory so that relatives can take them.

Currently, Ukraine does not have lists of the dead and wounded.

The families of Ukrainian soldiers are dissatisfied with the activities of international organizations because they have not received any information about their relatives after several months of captivity.
