Ukrainian President urges NATO Chief for quicker military support

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
Rubryka reports, referring to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
As noted, the Secretary-General expressed condolences in connection with the killing of Ukrainian prisoners of war by russia in Olenivka.
Zelensky separately informed Jens Stoltenberg about the situation on the battlefield.
He emphasized the need for Ukraine to quickly receive more heavy weapons from NATO member countries to repel russian attacks and successfully move to a further counteroffensive.
In addition, the President emphasized the importance of our country receiving non-lethal military aid from the Alliance as soon as possible within the comprehensive package approved at the Madrid NATO summit.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring the total financing of this assistance.
The President separately discussed with the Secretary-General the status of processing Ukraine's requests to NATO regarding aid for humanitarian demining.
He also expressed hope for speeding up the delivery of the necessary equipment.
Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the agreement on unblocking the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea ports and the dispatch of the first ship with grain from Odesa.
The head of state invited the Secretary General of NATO to participate in the online summit of the Crimean Platform on August 23 of this year.
As reported earlier, NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg called on the West to increase aid to Ukraine so as not to pay a much higher price in the future at the joint meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence.
"You have to pay; pay for the support; pay for humanitarian aid, pay the consequences of the economic sanctions because the alternative is to pay a much higher price later on. And then remember one thing, yes, we pay a price, but the price we pay, as the European Union, as NATO, is a price we can measure in currency, in money. The price they [Ukrainians, ed.] pay is measured in lives lost every day. So, we should just stop complaining and step up and provide support, full stop," he said.
