Mykolaiv mayor reports on massive enemy shelling

On the night of July 31, 2022, Russian troops aggressively shelled the city of Mykolaiv, having caused damage to residential houses and destroyed a number of objects.

The relevant statement was made by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych on Telegram.

"Today Mykolaiv has come under massive enemy fire. Probably, the most powerful for all the time. Strong blasts were heard after 01:00 a.m. and around 05:00 a.m. A number of objects were destroyed; residential houses were damaged," Sienkevych wrote.

During the first air raid siren, which rang out at 01:01 a.m., local residents were reporting on explosions.

The next shelling occurred early in the morning. Russian troops used cluster munitions.

According to preliminary data, one person was killed and two people were injured. 

"On the night of July 31, after 01:00 and at about 05:00, Mykolaiv came under massive fire. According to preliminary data, one person was killed and two people were injured. As a result of the shelling, several infrastructure facilities were damaged. In particular, a hotel, a sports complex, two educational institutions, and a service station. Residential buildings were also damaged," Vitaliy Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, posted on Telegram.

As noted, several fires broke out – a two-story building, two garages, and two outbuildings caught fire.
