In the coming days, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will announce a tender to purchase temporary storage equipment intended for the newly-harvested grain. Farmers from 20 regions of Ukraine will gain access to such equipment.

The relevant statement was made by FAO representative Viktoriia Mykhalchuk during a briefing at Ukraine Media Center, an Ukrinform reports.

According to Mykhalchuk, due to the Russian armed aggression, 14% of Ukrainian grain storages were damaged or destroyed, and 10% are situated within the areas seized by Russia. 35% of the available storages are filled with grain and oilseed crops, which were harvested last year and intended to be exported.

"In order to overcome the lack of grain storage capacities, FAO is working closely with the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry and has developed a grain storage strategy. […] In the coming days, FAO will announce a tender to purchase necessary equipment: grain storage sleeves, loaders and unloaders, as well as modular grain storages," Mykhalchuk noted.

In her words, farmers from 20 regions of Ukraine will be able to get necessary temporary grain storage equipment and will be informed of the project terms in the near future.
