Netflix will launch projects supporting Ukrainian cinema

Netflix streaming service is becoming more Ukrainian and will support Ukrainian filmmakers.

The Minister of Culture and Information Policy wrote about this on Telegram.

According to Tkachenko, since the start of the full-scale russia's invasion, talks have been held with Alex Long, the public policy regional director at Netflix.

"And they gave results. Netflix said that it did leave russia," the minister said.

He noted that the number of Ukrainian-language content on the platform had increased significantly over the past few months.

The head of the MKIP also informed that "we now have two projects to support the Ukrainian film industry."

"The first is that Netflix, together with the House of Europe and the Ukrainian Film Academy, will provide 100 scholarships in the amount of 1,000 euros for Ukrainian filmmakers. The second is a series of educational sessions with international experts," the minister said.

Tkachenko reminded that candidates can now apply for participation on the websites of the House of Europe and the Ukrainian Film Academy.

The head of the MKIP thanked the Ukrainian film industry for its support.

"Nowadays, the world should see even more Ukrainian art. Because it is truly incredible," Tkachenko emphasized.
