The Zephyr solar-powered drone sets a new flight record
The solar-powered drone, Zephyr, now owned by Airbus, has set a new flight record.
It was reported by New Atlas.
It is noted that the drone itself has a wingspan of 25 m. At the same time, its weight is less than 75 kg. The drone also has the ability to reach a height of 21.3 km.
The device was launched on June 15 over the Yuma Proving Ground in the US state of Arizona, and it's still in the air. It has already crossed the mark of 36 days in the air without refueling.
Its previous record for the longest flight without refueling was set in 2018 at 25 days, 23 hours, and 57 minutes.
The Zephyr drone still needs to land soon, not because it's out of power, but because another test is scheduled over the Pacific Ocean in the next few weeks.
