Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko received highest award in France
Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko received the highest award in France — the National Order of the Legion of Honor.
It was reported by journalist Myroslava Barchuk on Facebook.
The award ceremony was held at the French Embassy on July 14.
Membership in the Legion of Honor is the highest honor award and official recognition of special military or civilian merit in France.
According to the poet, the awarding of the Order was a surprise for her.
"In a difficult time, we gathered here, but on a very good occasion, because to receive the Order of the Legion of Honor is a great honor. It was an absolute surprise for me because I belong to world-unfamous literature. And suddenly, such an award. I truly love France, and I also have poems about France," said Lina Kostenko during the award presentation.
