Shelling of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region: 24 victims recovered from the rubble

The number of people killed due to rocket fire by russian troops in Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, has increased to 24 people.

The State Service of Emergency Situations reports about this on Telegram.

"As of 1:55 p.m., during emergency rescue operations, we discovered the bodies of 2 more deceased persons in a five-story residential building," the statement reads.

A total of 24 dead bodies have been discovered at the scene since the start of work, and nine people have been rescued from the rubble. The bodies of 5 victims are visually observed.

Rescuers are working on the scene to save those who did not get out. Fifty-three people work.

As reported, on the evening of July 9, russian invaders attacked a 5-story residential building in the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region with Uragan MRLS missiles. The russian missiles destroyed two entrances to the building.

"The russians again hit a high-rise building with civilians. Another terrorist attack by a terrorist country. The russian federation should be on the list of state sponsors of terrorism," wrote Andrii Yermak, head of the presidential office, about the shelling in Chasiv Yar.

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, also commented on the missile attack on Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region in an address at the end of the 137th day of the full-scale war.

"A rocket attack on the city of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region. Anyone who gives orders for the strikes and carries them out in ordinary towns, in residential areas, kills entirely deliberately. After such strikes, they will not be able to say that they did not know or did not know something or didn't understand.

Punishment is inevitable for every russian murderer. Absolutely for everyone. The same as for the Nazis. They shouldn't expect that their state will protect them. russia will be the first to abandon them when the political circumstances change," Zelensky emphasized.

Over the past day, the russians have carried out dozens of shelling of Ukrainian cities and villages. Kharkiv was shelled with Iskander missiles.

Since russia began its invasion, it has consistently targeted civilians and critical infrastructure. The death toll isn't certain because government officials, UN representatives, and other services responsible for counting the victims don't always have access to locations where people were killed due to hostilities. In an address to Luxembourg's parliament, President Volodymyr Zelensky said "at least tens of thousands" of Ukrainian civilians have died. In Mariupol alone, Ukrainian officials report more than 21,000 civilians dead.

Also, targeting granaries, destroying food warehouses, and forcing grain export from the occupied regions to the russian federation are the tools russia uses to provoke a food crisis both in Ukraine and abroad. russia continues to blackmail the world, blocking Ukraine from exporting its grain. Ukrainian farmers have an estimated 22 million metric tons of grain stuck in storehouses. The lack of Ukrainian grain is pushing food prices up, and pressing countries are already facing shortages toward famine.
