Ukraine received 9 HIMARS missile systems and similar complexes from the United States and its allies, but it needs dozens more for a counteroffensive

Oleksiy Danilov, the National Security Council Secretary, told about it, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Thanks to the American HIMARS systems that arrived last month, Ukraine got the opportunity to precisely hit russian targets behind the front line, Danilov noted.

Previously, the targets were beyond the reach of Ukrainian weapons.

He said that currently, nine HIMARS mobile systems and similar multiple-launch systems provided by the US and its allies are operating in Ukraine.

As the Secretary of the National Security Council emphasized, the russians are "defenseless against them."

At the same time, Danilov noted that Ukraine would need dozens more HIMARS systems to change the course of hostilities in eastern Ukraine.

For now, according to him, Ukraine is forced to wage a defensive war.

It should be recalled that on June 23, the United States announced the provision of a new tranche of military aid to Ukraine worth $450 million, which included new HIMARS rocket launcher systems.

It was reported that MLRS are provided with a political commitment not to use these weapons on targets on russia's territory.

Also, as Rubryka reported, Danilov believes that russia now has the power to attack only in one direction of the front.

As Rubryka reported, the russian army is trying to overcome the resistance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and establish full control over the Luhansk region.
