Ukraine and Sweden for the first time agree on joint bilateral cooperation statement

Ukraine and Sweden signed a joint statement on defense cooperation, sectoral cooperation in nuclear energy, energy efficiency, and financial support

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during a briefing with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson in Kyiv, Rubryka reports.

"Today, we agreed on a joint statement with the Prime Minister. It is the first such document in the history of bilateral relations. The joint statement sets out critical issues for both our states.

This applies, in particular, to defense cooperation, sectoral cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, energy efficiency, and financial support for Ukraine.

I am very grateful to Sweden for supporting our course towards full accession to the European Union in the future," Zelensky said.

The head of the stet also emphasized that, in addition to defense, economic, and energy issues, the negotiations raised the issue of strengthening sanctions against russia.

Andersson said that her country would support an open-door policy for Ukraine after joining NATO.

She also said that the best tools to end the war were new sanctions against the russian federation and support for Ukraine as long as necessary.

Before the meeting with Zelensky, Magdalena Andersson visited Bucha and Borodianka, liberated after the occupation.

As Rubryka reported, on July 4, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, who visited Kyiv for the first time.

The Prime Minister of Sweden brought to Kyiv copies of the letter of 1711 on the recognition of Zaporizhzhia Sich as a state.

In a letter kept in the State Archives of Sweden, King Charles XII instructs the Swedish ambassador in Constantinople to recognize Zaporizhzhia Sich as an independent state.

According to Andersson, even at the beginning of the 18th century, the Swedish King was impressed by Cossack's democracy.

Zelensky showed the media representatives this document and read a fragment.
