British intelligence: russia’s disruption of Ukraine’s agricultural sector exacerbates global food crisis

British intelligence officers emphasize that russia's invasion continues to have a devastating effect on Ukraine's agricultural sector.

Rubryka reports, citing the British Ministry of Defense report.

British intelligence reports that the war has led to severe disruptions in the seed and fertilizer supply chains on which Ukrainian farmers depend.

"With harvest underway, russia's invasion continues to have a devastating impact on Ukraine's agricultural sector. The war has caused major disruption to the supply chains of seed and fertilizer which Ukrainian farmers rely on," the review says.

As the intelligence officers emphasize, the russian blockade of Odesa continues to limit grain export from Ukraine seriously. Because of this, Ukraine's agricultural exports in 2022 are unlikely to be more than 35% of the 2021 total.

"Following its retreat from the Black Sea outpost of Snake Island, Russia misleadingly claimed that 'the ball is now in Ukraine's court' in relation to improving grain exports.

In reality, it is russia's disruption of Ukraine's agricultural sector which continues to exacerbate the global food crisis," British intelligence emphasized in the report.

The British Intelligence also reports that after capturing the city of Lysychansk in the Luhansk region, the russian army will probably throw its forces into the capture of the Donetsk region.

"The city was the last remaining major population center in Luhansk Oblast under Ukrainian control. russia's focus will now almost certainly switch to capturing Donetsk Oblast, a large portion of which remain under the control of Ukrainian forces.

The fight for the Donbas has been grinding and attritional, and this is highly unlikely to change in the coming weeks," the statement says.

As Rubryka wrote, on July 3, Ukraine's Defense Forces withdrew from their occupied positions and lines in Lysychansk.

Earlier, ISW stated that the russian army was likely to establish control over the territory of the Luhansk region in the coming days.

"russian forces will likely establish control over the remaining territory of Luhansk Oblast in coming days and will likely then prioritize drives on Ukrainian positions in Siversk before turning to Sloviansk and Bakhmut," the report stated.

As reported by the National Guard, as of July 2, fierce battles were occurring near Lysychansk, but the city was not surrounded.
