Intelligence reports seven Belarusian battalions on Ukrainian border
Seven battalions of the Belarusian armed forces are concentrated on the border with Ukraine.
Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports on Facebook. It is confirmed by the representative of the organization, Vadym Skibitskyi, in an interview with Ukrainian military television.
From a military point of view, the threat of the invasion of the Belarusian army on the territory of Ukraine remains. However, at the moment, a direct military offensive from Belarus is unlikely.
"Today, there is no direct threat from Belarus because no grouping of troops has been created, and no management system for this grouping has been deployed. It is the main element indicating immediate preparation for hostilities," Skibitsky explained.
But, he noted, the presence of seven battalions of the Belarusian armed forces near the border prompts the Ukrainian command to attract additional deterrent forces and strengthen intelligence.
"This diverts resources and means from our eastern front. In addition, the constant movement of troops is keeping us in tension. Separate elements, tactical episodes of possible offensive actions from the territory of Belarus are being worked out," said Skibitsky.
