The EU will provide Copernicus system to record environmental war crimes in Ukraine

On Friday, June 24, Rubryka met with Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries. During an exclusive interview, he stated that the EU would contribute to documenting environmental war crimes committed by russia on Ukrainian territory.
"We will use our Copernicus system to map and monitor the environment in various locations throughout Ukraine, which can then be processed and used for further research," Virginijus Sinkevičius stated.
Copernicus is an updated environmental and security research program supported and managed by the European Commission with the European Space Agency, Member States, and EU agencies. The aim is to use the vast amount of data from satellites and terrestrial, air, and marine measurement systems to obtain timely and quality information, services, and knowledge, and to provide independent access to environmental and safety information globally to help service providers, government agencies and other international organizations to improve the people's quality of life.
