The UN Security Council will gather to discuss russia’s missile strike on Kremenchuk

Today, June 28, at 22:00 Kyiv time, the United Nations Security Council will meet to discuss the shelling of a shopping center in Kremenchuk.

It is stated in the work program on the website of the Security Council.

Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhii Kyslytsia, wrote on Twitter that Ukraine had asked the chair of the UN Security Council to convene a meeting "in light of gravity of barbaric missile attacks."

Kyiv asked to hold a meeting on the agenda item, Maintenance of Peace & Security of Ukraine.

Kyslytsia added that russia and all those guilty would eventually be punished.

Norway has already condemned the shelling of the mall, calling it terrible.

The United States and the United Kingdom have done the same.

"Russia's attack on civilians at a shopping mall is cruel. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people," Biden said. "As demonstrated at the G7 Summit, the US along with our allies and partners will continue to hold Russia accountable for such atrocities and support Ukraine's defense."

"This appalling attack has shown once again the depths of cruelty and barbarism to which the russian leader will sink. Once again, our thoughts are with the families of innocent victims in Ukraine. putin must realize that his behavior will do nothing but strengthen the resolve of Ukraine and every other G7 country to stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes," the British prime minister said.

French President Macron also expressed his reaction, calling the strike on Kremenchuk an absolute horror.

Missile strike on Kremenchuk

On June 27, russian aggressors launched a missile strike on the city of Kremenchuk in the Poltava region. They aimed at the Amstor shopping center which might have had up to 1000 people inside.

We currently know about 18 dead civilians. Rescuers cleared 50% of the territory from the rubble.

The russians fired Kh-22 missiles fired from Tu-22 M3 long-range bombers at the shopping center, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Air Force Command reported.

The Security Service of Ukraine said it had immediately launched an investigation into the rocket fire on civilian targets in Kremenchuk.

Investigators opened proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal code of Ukraine, violation of laws and customs of war.
