Turkey reports progress in talks with russia on Ukrainian grain exports

On June 22, the Turkish delegation held talks in Moscow on unblocking the export of Ukrainian grain by sea

According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the meeting took place in a "constructive and very positive atmosphere."

Its participants stated they had agreed to hold quadripartite talks with Ukraine and the United Nations.

russia and Turkey also discussed the issue of exporting commercial vessels with cargo from blocked Ukrainian ports and the safe return of Turkish planes at Boryspil airport.

As for the quadripartite meeting of representatives of Kyiv, Moscow, Ankara and the UN, it is supposed to take place "in the coming weeks."

The Turkish side also noted that the talks resulted in the departure of the first Turkish ship—Azov Concord—from the port of russian-occupied Mariupol.

russia is blocking the Black Sea. Because of this, Ukraine cannot export its food by sea. russia also accuses the West of raising food prices due to sanctions against it.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Senik said that during the naval blockade of russia, Ukraine has established two channels for grain exports: through Poland and Romania. Ukraine is also negotiating with the Baltic states.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that his country had offered to contribute to resolving the global food crisis caused by russia's blockade of Ukrainian ports.

Addressing the African Union, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine had not yet made progress in multilateral negotiations to unblock maritime grain exports.
