Scholz: German weapons will arrive in Ukraine in time
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has promised that the German weapons Ukraine has requested to fight Russian invaders will arrive in time.
"It [weapons for Ukraine] will arrive in time," Scholz told dpa news agency in an interview, Ukrinform reports.
At the same time, Scholz noted that Ukraine would be given priority in the queue for arms supplies.
"You know there is a long list of customers already that are waiting for getting them in two years and three years," he said, meaning that the protocol for delivery has had to be changed in order for Ukraine to receive them faster.
"They are working now to make it happen," he added.
Heavy weapons to Ukraine will be delivered to Ukraine after the service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine undergo training, the Chancellor specified, noting that the deliveries will include anti-missile systems and MLRS.
"We will deliver an anti-ballistic system which is able to save Odesa or Kyiv. We also decided together with the UK and the United States that we will deliver multiple rocket launchers," he said.
As reported, Olaf Scholz, together with President of France Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi, and President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, made a visit to Ukraine on June 16. They and the Ukrainian leadership discussed steps to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, global food security, as well as the European integration, and sanctions against Russia.
