Biden confirmed allocation of $ 1 billion in military aid to Ukraine in a phone call with Zelensky
On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden held telephone talks with Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he confirmed the allocation of a billion dollars in security assistance to Kyiv.
It was stated in the White House, UP reports.
"I have informed President Zelensky that the United States is providing Ukraine another $ 1 billion in security assistance. It will include additional artillery and coastal defense weapons, as well as artillery ammunition and advanced missile systems needed by Ukrainians to support defense operations in Donbas," the message says.
The report did not specify the weapons, but earlier, media reported that the United States would provide Ukraine with Harpoon anti-ship missiles, more multiple rocket launcher systems (MLRS), which were sent to Ukraine before, as well as artillery shells for M777 howitzers and spare parts.
In addition, the leaders of Ukraine and the United States discussed the actions of Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin in coordinating additional international support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Biden also said the United States would provide $ 225 million in additional humanitarian aid "to help people in Ukraine, including providing safe drinking water, essential medicine, and medical care, food, shelter, and cash for families to buy the "essentials."
"The courage, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian people continue to inspire the world. And the United States, along with our allies and partners, will not hesitate in its commitment to the Ukrainian people fighting for their freedom," Biden summed up.
