President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed strengthening German defense support with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

Zelensky announced this on Twitter.

The head of state noted that he had a telephone conversation with Olaf Scholz.

"We discussed strengthening Ukraine's defense support, ensuring global food security, and russia's compliance with international norms on the treatment of prisoners of war," Zelensky said.

Zelensky is concerned about whether russia treats Ukrainian prisoners of war in accordance with international norms.

The President also stressed the importance of decision-making for Ukraine's integration into the EU.

Scholz told Zelensky about his last telephone conversation with russian President putin and French President Macron on May 28.

"They agreed that everything should be done to be able to export grain from Ukraine, especially by sea," he said.

Scholz and Zelensky will continue to talk about ways to support Ukraine and "stay in close contact."

As a reminder, the Speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on June 3 and called on him to increase military support for Ukraine.
