Ukrainian cultural center to be opened in Berlin
Berlin Governing Mayor Franziska Giffei announced on Tuesday that the city authorities had agreed to open a Ukrainian cultural center.
It was reported by "European Pravda," citing Welt.
Giffei made her statement following a meeting with the Ukrainian Minister of Community Development Oleksiy Chernyshov and Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk.
"Planning (the Ukrainian Cultural Center – ed.) is already underway," Giffei said. She added that this is the first such institution to be opened outside Ukraine.
The governments of Germany and Ukraine will be involved in the project, the mayor of Berlin said.
"Berlin is extremely interested in close ties and further cooperation both in helping Ukrainian refugees in Berlin and in helping Ukraine's development," she added.
During the talks, Chernyshov, Melnyk, and Giffai also discussed the conditions for the reception of Ukrainian refugees in Berlin (almost 68,000), the organization of training for Ukrainian children and youth, regional development, Ukraine's reconstruction, and prospects for Ukraine's EU accession.
