Poland will sell Krab AHS worth $ 650 million to Ukraine
Poland has signed a defense contract with Ukraine worth PLN 2.7 billion (about $ 650 million) on the sale of Krab self-propelled artillery units (AHS) to Ukraine.
It was stated during a joint press conference at the Huta Stalowa Wola plant on Tuesday by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin, and National Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, Ukrinform reports.
"Right now, we are signing one of the largest, if not the largest, defense contract for the last 30 years. It is the sale of weapons for the Ukrainians, for Ukraine," Morawiecki said.
He stressed that these weapons would be "crucial" on the battlefield in eastern Ukraine.
The Polish Prime Minister noted that Ukraine receives funds to purchase these weapons partly from the EU and partly from its own budget.
Deputy Prime Minister Sasin also noted that the contract is a "record" for Poland, costing more than PLN 2.7 billion.
"There has been no such contract in the Polish defense industry for 30 years," Sasin said.
Minister Blaszczak noted that artillery plays a crucial role in russia's war against Ukraine. Therefore, Poland will rely on its development, both cannon, and missile.
Asked whether Ukraine intends to buy additional batches of Piorun MANPADS in Poland, Blaszczak said that "Ukrainians highly praise these weapons."
However, he did not confirm possible new deliveries of these missile systems to Ukraine, noting that the Polish Ministry of Defense will order these MANPADS for the needs of its own army.
