The U.S. allows Britain to provide Ukrainian army with M270 long-range missile systems
Britain will send M270 multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced this, CNN reports.
Wallace noted that Britain supported Ukraine and had taken a leading role in supplying vital weapons needed to defend the country.
"As russian tactics change, so must our support to Ukraine. These highly capable multiple-launch rocket systems will enable our Ukrainian friends to better protect themselves against russia's brutal use of long-range artillery, which putin's forces have used indiscriminately to flatten cities," Wallace said.
This step was "coordinated closely" with the United States' decision to provide Ukraine with its High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS)—a variant of the multiple-launch rocket systems that the UK will gift.
The British government has also said it will teach the Ukrainian military how to use launchers in the UK to maximize efficiency.
The media previously reported that Britain had asked the United States to sign a plan to send the M270 MLRS to Ukraine within a few weeks.
Although the Biden administration will almost certainly give the green light, the United States has to approve the move through export regulations. The M270 system can hit targets at a distance of about 80 kilometers.

As Rubryka reported, US President Joe Biden has announced a new security package for Ukraine, including highly mobile missile artillery systems (HIMARS).
The media reported that HIMARS was provided to Ukraine on the political condition that Ukraine would not use it to strike at targets within russia.
Western officials are concerned that providing Kyiv with missiles that could strike russia could provoke putin to escalate the conflict, including the use of chemical or even nuclear weapons.
