For the first time, the U.S. acknowledged "offensive hacking operations" in support of Ukraine
The head of the US Cyber Command, General Paul Nakasone, said that the US military is conducting "offensive hacking operations" in support of Ukraine
Nakasone announced this in an interview with Sky News, reports the EP.
"We have carried out several operations of all kinds: offensive, defensive, informational," said the commander of the US Cyber Troops.
He refused to elaborate on the details of the cyberattacks but said they were carried out legally following Pentagon policies and under civilian surveillance.
"My job is to provide several options for the defense secretary and the President, which I do," Nakasone added, without elaborating on those options.
According to the general, "every day" he estimates the possibility of russia's cyber attack on the United States, so preventive action in cyberspace, which allows identifying russian hackers and their intentions, is an effective means of protecting the United States and its allies.
Nakasone added that Washington's strategic engagement with other Western countries, which began in 2018, facilitated the process.
