The Pentagon on the contents of the new $700 billion aid package to Ukraine
The US Department of Defense said that a new $ 700 million aid package to Ukraine announced on Wednesday would include additional modern weapons, including more advanced missile systems, Javelins, helicopters, and other equipment.
It was announced in an official statement of the Pentagon.
"This is the eleventh package of weapons allocated by the US Department of Defense to Ukraine since August 2021," the statement said.
It is noted, that this time, the list includes highly mobile artillery missile systems and ammunition, five counter-battery radars, and two air surveillance radars. In addition, the United States will provide a thousand anti-tank missiles Javelin, and 20 launchers for them; six thousand units of other anti-tank weapons; 15 thousand 155 mm artillery shells.
The package also includes the transfer of four Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine, with 15 tactical vehicles, spare parts, and other equipment.
"The United States has committed approximately $ 5.3 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden administration, including approximately $ 4.6 billion since the beginning of russia's unprovoked invasion on February 24," the Pentagon said.
Totally since 2014, the United States has provided more than $ 7.3 billion in defense assistance to Ukraine.
It is emphasized, that the United States continues to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to defend itself.
