It should be noted that the poll was initiated by Denys Monastyrsky, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The "Diia" application published the results, which show that almost 59% of respondents voted in favor of allowing weapons for personal defense.

A total of 1,726,452 people took part in the survey.

Respondents could choose one of three options:

  • Short-barreled weapons are allowed for all citizens who meet the requirements of the law, but it is forbidden to carry weapons. They can be stored only at home and used in shooting galleries and ranges. 19.43% of Ukrainians supported this initiative;
  • All citizens who meet the law requirements can own guns and carry them freely in public places. 58.75% voted for this option;
  • Guns should not be in circulation among civilians. 21.82% voted for this option.

As Rubryka reported, a new poll was initiated in the "Diia" app on May 25.

According to Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the parliament recently voted in the first reading for a bill on the circulation of firearms.

Monastyrsky noted that the poll is being conducted on the president's behalf, as Ukrainians have differing views on the circulation of firearms.

But the rules of possession have not been settled. To continue working on the bill, Denys Monastyrsky, decided to ask about the opinion of Ukrainians on this issue.

According to a poll conducted by the sociological group Rating on May 16, the number of the right of civilians to own firearms and ammunition supporters has more than doubled since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.

Today, 58% of citizens support such an initiative. 39% of Ukrainians are against it.

For the first time in the research history fn the issue, the number of supporters exceeded the number of opponents. In 2018-2021, about a quarter supported the idea, but more than 70% didn't.
