The EU may agree on sixth sanctions package against russia today, President's Office reports

The European Union may agree on the sixth sanctions package against russia today.

The head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, wrote about this on Telegram.

"The EU may agree on the sixth package of sanctions today. According to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, negotiations have been difficult, but decisions need to be made, including an embargo on russian oil," Yermak wrote.

He noted that it was important for the EU to demonstrate a powerful position, as russia's primary goal is to split unity and use it as a weakness of the European Union, and it cannot be allowed.

As reported, the EU heads of state and government will hold a special meeting of the European Council in Brussels today, which will be devoted to the situation around russia's aggression against Ukraine and response to the global consequences of the war.
