Borrel is confident the EU will agree on sixth sanctions package against russia at summit
European Union leaders may agree on the sixth sanctions package against russia at Monday's summit.
EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell stated this before the meeting, European Pravda reports.
"It's important to discuss how we get the final agreement on the sixth package of sanctions. I'm pretty sure we'll get the deal. There were Coreper meetings yesterday and this morning, we pushed everyone to get the deal today. And I'm pretty sure we'll have that deal," Borrell said.
When reporters asked whether Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban would support the agreement, Borrel said: "I'm sure."
Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she didn't believe that the sixth sanctions package would be agreed upon at the EU summit on May 30-31.
The EU summit will take place on June 25-26. It is planned to consider granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union.
At the same time, Andrii Yermak, the head of the President's Office, stated that the European Union could agree on the sixth package of sanctions against russia today.
