Davos Forum President calls for introducing "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine

President of the Davos Economic Forum, Børge Brende, calls for implementing the "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine.

He stated this to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

"Even without the peace agreement, which is unlikely at the moment, we must start work on reconstruction, at least in the territories under Ukraine's control. We need a Marshall Plan for Ukraine," Brende said.

He means infrastructure, electricity, schools, roads, and bridges, he said.

Brende said he wanted to extend the call for the plan at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which begins on Monday.

The President of the World Economic Forum wants to involve business leaders in the plan: "We will also gather company executives under the slogan 'Directors General for Ukraine.'"

He added that the private sector should play an important role in rebuilding the country.

The new head of the forum also explained why russian companies and politicians weren't invited to Davos because of the war against Ukraine. "russia will return if they comply with international law again," he said.
