Germany to deliver first Gepard anti-aircraft guns to Kyiv in July, media report
In July, Ukraine will receive the first 15 Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled units from German industry warehouses.
This was discussed during a conversation between German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht and her Ukrainian colleague Oleksii Reznikov, European Pravda reports, referring to Spiegel.
The package also includes training support from the Bundeswehr, the provision of almost 60,000 munitions, and the delivery of 15 more vehicles in the summer.
"Today I spoke with my Ukrainian partner Reznikov, and he clearly reaffirmed that Ukraine wanted Gepard anti-aircraft tanks delivered from Germany as soon as possible, including 59,000 rounds of ammunition," Lambrecht said after a video link with Reznikov.
"Gepard is an effective weapon that also has a significant deterrent effect, for example, to protect critical infrastructure," Lambrecht said.
"We are now working together to ensure that the first 15 Gepards are ready for action from mid-July with fully trained crews," she added.
