Measures to evacuate Ukrainian military proceed in Mariupol direction, General Staff says

The intensity of hostilities in the Mariupol area is currently reduced, and measures to evacuate the Ukrainian military are underway.

The Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Department of the Ukrainian army's General Staff, Brigadier General Oleksii Hromov stated this, Ukrinform reports.

"In the Mariupol direction, the intensity of hostilities has been reduced. Currently, measures are being taken to evacuate our heroes," Hromov said.

He also noted that the enemy was trying to deter the offensive of Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv direction and prevent them from reaching the state border of Ukraine.

The enemy also continues to conduct disturbing shelling of the border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions to inflict losses, bind Ukrainian troops and distract them from the main directions.

In the Rivne and Zhytomyr directions, no signs of regular enemy groups forming were found.

According to Hromov, the threat of missile strikes from Belarus on the territory of Ukraine remains.

Thus, russian troops began to strengthen their positions at the Zyabrovka airfield in the Gomel region. It is possible that this airfield will be used as a russian military base in Belarus.

"In Brest and Grodno oblasts, the capabilities of local authorities to form government bodies and territorial defense units are being tested. At one of the training grounds, units of 6 separate motorized infantry brigades of Grodno trained in guiding the crossing and forcing the Neman River water barrier," Hromov said.

The situation in Transnistria is also tense. All personnel of the russian troops is in barracks, no mass movement of personnel and equipment has been detected.

Hromov noted that the Red Code of Terrorist Danger, which was introduced on April 26 and extended on May 10, is in force in the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic until May 25.

In the Mykolaiv direction, the enemy continues to fire at Ukrainian divisions but doesn't carry out active hostilities. The main focus of the enemy is on reconnaissance, maintenance of occupied frontiers, and their engineering equipment.
