Every day may be our last: Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol continue to courageously defend Azovstal

Because of attempts by russian invaders to seize the plant, the Ukrainian military at Azovstal suffer heavy losses

Illia Samoilenko, an officer of the Azov Regiment's intelligence department, told Sky News in a comment.

According to the defender, their resources are almost exhausted, and every day can be their last.

Despite all this, the defenders of Mariupol intend to continue the defense and will not lay down their arms.

Samoilenko told Sky News that the situation at the plant is very difficult and Ukrainian soldiers are "taking heavy casualties."

The plant is under siege. russian occupation forces continue to bomb and shell Azovstal and try to seize the enterprise.

"We're taking heavy casualties, we're taking losses. The count of injured and fallen soldiers is very high and these people deserve all the proper care. Nobody has been expecting for us to hold against the Russians for so long but still, we are fighting," Samoilenko said.

Defenders of Mariupol now have "extremely limited resources," so, as Samoilenko said, "every day may be our last."

However, the soldiers are not going to surrender to the russian invaders.

They realize that being taken prisoner by the enemy means a faithful and painful death for them.

Journalists are surprised to find:

Despite the dire situation, Ukrainian soldiers are not so much worried about their fate as about how the fall of Mariupol will affect Ukrainian defense as a whole.

"The consequences of this might be extremely catastrophic for the Ukrainian defense and the Ukrainian state. Our life means nothing, but our fight means everything," Samoilenko said.

As Rubryka reported, all civilians were evacuated from the territory of Azovstal.

At the same time, Ukrainian high-ranking officials say that about a hundred civilians may remain at the enterprise.

To recap, the occupiers destroyed the second hospital at Azovstal, so even the lightly wounded now die without help.

The deaths of these courageous people are largely on the conscience of local traitors.

Thus, data on the system of underground tunnels and storage facilities at the plant was handed over to the invaders by a former Azovstal employee. The SBU declared him a suspect.
