About 45% of the population left Kherson, head of region says

About 45% of residents left Kherson, and 20% of people left the region

Hennadii Lahuta, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, told Ukrinform about this in an interview.

"According to preliminary estimates, about 45% of people have left Kherson alone since March, and one in five left the region," Lahuta said.

According to him, living in intolerable conditions is very difficult and dangerous.

"The occupiers are looting, killing, and raping, so the civilians can't stand it. They are very scared and forced to leave their homes," he said.

He said that the occupiers did not allow the official "green corridors," so people left on their own, organizing in columns.

Initially, it happened through Oleksandrivka and Snihurivka, but later, the occupiers closed these roads. Later, people drove through Davydiv Brid to Kryvyi Rih, but this road was closed for a week. In the villages, people even went on foot, on bicycles, and swam across the river. They left all their property.

"Most of the residents of the region were evacuated in Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk directions," the head of the regional military administration said.
