15-year-old girl with shot legs took 4 wounded adults out of flashpoint
A 15-year-old girl from Popasna came under fire twice while trying to evacuate. With her legs shot, despite the danger, she took 4 wounded adults to Bakhmut.
Serhii Haidai, the Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration, reported on the girl's heroic deed.
At first, the girl was in a passenger seat, surrounded by other fellow villagers who dared to flee. There were 3 more men and a woman in the car. They tried to evacuate from Popasna on their own, but the car was shot by the russians.
The driver and passengers were injured, then the girl decided to get behind the wheel.
"Two men were wounded by shrapnel, another one was wounded very badly. I had to get behind the wheel and take them to Bakhmut. We needed urgent help so as not to lose a lot of blood," the girl says.
The road was mined. Explosive devices lay in a checkerboard pattern, and then there were a few more obstacles. Despite that, they managed to pass the area safely.
However, other occupiers were behind the turn and shot the car again.
"There was practically nothing I could do, the car stalled. I barely started it, but then it all stalled on the way because the battery was shot," the girl adds.
Bullets pierced not only the car but the people in it. The young driver had to go with her legs shot.
"I drove as much as I could. It was not easy for me, it was very painful. But still, at least somehow I could do it. I would not throw away under fire," the girl admits.
