Ukrainian Armed Forces began counteroffensive actions in Izium direction, Ministry of Defense says

The Ukrainian military launched a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv and Izium directions
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi announced this during a conversation with the chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States General Mark Milley, Rubryka reports.
"Traditionally, I informed my American colleague about the latest situation.
In particular, the enemy is transferring the major efforts to the Luhansk direction, where intense fighting continues in the area of Popasna, Kreminna, and Torske.
Also, Ukraine's defense forces are transitioning to counter-offensive operations in the Kharkiv and Izium areas," Zaluzhnyi said.
In addition, the Commander-in-Chief stressed that the russian aggressor had resumed the use of cruise missiles.
"The primary purpose of these actions is to destroy the logistical routes of military-technical assistance to Ukraine.
Thus, during the day on May 3, the enemy used 14 cruise missiles fired from TU-160 strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea," the minister stressed.
Zaluzhnyi noted that as of last night, 8 cruise missile launches had been recorded in our territory.
"Therefore, the issue of providing Ukraine with M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS is very important," he said.
