The Hungarian government says it is ready to help Ukraine rebuild the Kyiv region and receive Ukrainian servicemen for treatment.

This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó during the Donors' Conference to Assist Ukraine in Warsaw.

He noted that his country condemned russia's attack and supports Ukraine's sovereignty, and stressed that his country had accepted 670,000 IDPs from Ukraine.

Szijjártó also said that his country was ready to provide Ukraine with a package of aid and measures estimated at a total of 47 million euros; in particular, Budapest is ready to take part in the reconstruction of schools and hospitals in the Kyiv region (or anywhere else).

Szijjártó also stated his readiness to provide temporary mobile housing for people who have fled to the west of Ukraine from the war.

In addition, Hungary is ready to provide a thousand scholarships in Hungarian universities for Ukrainians who have arrived in the country and to accept for treatment 140 children from Ukraine in their special hospitals.

The Hungarian minister also stated his readiness to treat wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Hungary: "We are ready to provide medical care to wounded Ukrainian soldiers in Hungarian hospitals without any limit in number."

Note

Even after February 24, the current Hungarian government has taken a pro-russian stance, including preventing other countries from transporting weapons to Ukraine through their territory.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said that if Hungary starts supplying weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it will involve Hungarians in the war against russia.

At the same time, Hungary has so far voted in favor of all EU sanctions imposed on russia but opposed sanctions aimed at importing energy.

Budapest also said it was ready to comply with Moscow's demands to pay in rubles for gas exports.
