Save the military in Mariupol! Kyiv gathers a rally to support Ukraine’s miltary. Rubryka’s photo report

Relatives and friends of the Ukrainian defenders of Mariupol, who are surrounded by the russian occupiers, took part in a rally in Kyiv. About a hundred people gathered for a rally in the city center. Among the protesters are relatives, friends, wives, and children of the fighters who are currently at the Azovstal plant.

On Tuesday, the first group of civilians rescued from the Azovstal plant arrived in Zaporizhzhia; they were able to leave the blocked plant through a humanitarian corridor. The journey lasted three days.

Immediately after these people left the plant, the russians began firing on Azovstal with double force. Heavy fighting continues now. Our Defenders are still at the plant; they are defending the last outpost of Mariupol. Among them are many wounded.

With a call to evacuate them and civilians from Mariupol, hundreds of people marched on Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square on May 3. Among them are mothers, wives, and sisters of Azovstal soldiers. The world has no right to forget about Mariupol and its people for a moment.

To recap, Mariupol has been blocked by the russian occupiers for two months now. They are systematically shelling civilian infrastructure. Soldiers of the Azov Regiment, Ukrainian Marines, and motorized riflemen continue to defend the city. Currently, they are concentrated on the territory of the Azovstal plant. Besides the Ukrainian military, there are residents of the city, including women and children who have found the only shelter from russian shelling in underground tunnels and bunkers of the plant.
