The Federal Government of Germany still decided to deliver to Ukraine 7 howitzers Panzerhaubitzen 2000 from the Bundeswehr

Die Welt reports, citing sources.

According to the publication, the political decision of the Chancellery and the Ministry of Defense was made contrary to the advice of the leading military in the Bundeswehr.

They have previously stated that only about 40 of the 119 Panzerhaubitzen 2000s in the Bundeswehr's armament are combat-ready and indispensable for Germany's own needs.

Die Welt also reported that the use of weapons by Ukraine, which has a sophisticated digital fire control system, was also questioned by the German military.

The media added that the government ignored these concerns, although it had long feared that the transfer of heavy weapons to Ukraine could weaken the Bundeswehr.

To recap, the Panzerhaubitzen 2000 howitzers are heavy artillery units capable of firing at a distance of up to 40 kilometers.

The Netherlands has previously promised Kyiv the supply of five such howitzers.

Also, the training of the Ukrainian army in the armament system will take place entirely in Germany.

As Rubryka reported, last week the federal government approved for the first time the export of heavy weapons directly from Germany.

The German government has allowed Ukraine to provide 50 Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns.

Delivery of major Western-style battle tanks, such as Leopard, from Germany to Ukraine is not yet planned.
