Mayor of Kherson states he refused to cooperate with the occupiers
Kherson Mayor Ihor Kolikhaiev said he refused to cooperate with the "new administration" appointed by the russian invaders.
He wrote about this on Facebook.
"I'm staying in Kherson with the people of Kherson, who, more than a year and a half ago, entrusted me with the management of our city. I refused to cooperate with the new administration," the mayor said in a statement.
Kolikhaiev noted that today a new "head of the Kherson administration" was introduced to his deputies and heads of public utilities, departments, departments of the Kherson Executive Committee, heads of districts, heads of district councils.
It was announced that the powers of the "Kherson mayor are delegated," according to the order of the regional military commander of the russian federation, Kobets Aleksander Yurievich, who, in turn, is subordinate to the new "head of the Kherson regional administration" Volodymyr Saldo.
Kobets said that from today he would coordinate the processes that ensure the viability of the city, said Kolikhaiev.
Employees of the city executive committee were invited to consider the possibility of further cooperation. Then the choice will be made by everyone, Kolykhaiev said.
He also noted that he had asked the President's Office for detailed instructions on what the mayor and colleagues should do in this case. Until the direct instructions of the Office of the President, Kolykhaiev remains remotely accessible (according to the instruction received earlier on April 18, 2022, № 01-01-71-2311 / 0/22/16, signed by the head of the regional military administration Hennadii Laguta). Kolikhaiev assured that he would, as far as possible, manage the ongoing processes related to the life of the city.
Kolikhaiev replied that there were still many organizational and administrative questions to which he could not yet answer.
Kherson is Ukraine, the mayor emphasized.
