IAEA chief says Chornobyl "abnormal" radiation level after russian military
Radiation levels in the area of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant are "abnormal" after russian troops seized the area.
This was stated by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency Raphael Grossi, AFP reports.
Today, April 26, on the anniversary of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident, an expert mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) led by Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi arrived at the NPP to deliver vital equipment and conduct radiological and other assessments of the plant, that had been controlled by russian troops for five weeks, until their liberation on March 31.
Other additional IAEA missions to this and other nuclear facilities in Ukraine will also take place in the coming weeks.
