UN Secretary-General says putin agrees to UN and Red Cross involvement in evacuation from Mariupol
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he had agreed with russian president vladimir putin to evacuate civilians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol with the participation of the UN and the ICRC.
This was reported by the Office of the UN Secretary-General.
"The president (putin – ed.) agreed in principle to the participation of the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross in the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
Further discussions will be held with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the russian Ministry of Defense," the statement said.
