Biden has announced another $500 million in economic aid to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden has announced $500 million in direct economic aid to Ukraine.

He stated this in an address on Thursday, the EP reports.

"We are also showing our support for the people of Ukraine. Today, the United States announces its intention to provide $500 million in direct economic assistance to the Ukrainian government," Biden said.

According to him, this increases the total economic support of Ukraine to 1 billion dollars over the past two months.

"These funds will help the Ukrainian government stabilize the economy, support communities devastated by russian troops, and pay for courageous workers who continue to provide critical services to the people of Ukraine," he said.

In March, the US Congress approved about $14 billion in aid to Ukraine, but most of that money has not yet been allocated or paid.

Earlier, President Biden announced separate economic support to Ukraine in the amount of $500 million, but the Ukrainian government asked for additional help from world leaders.

Joe Biden also announced the allocation of a new $800 million military aid package to Ukraine.
