Switzerland has approved the latest package of EU sanctions against russia and Belarus
Switzerland has approved the latest package of European Union sanctions against russia and Belarus for military aggression against Ukraine.
This was announced by the Swiss government on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
In addition, the Swiss government has approved sanctions against 200 individuals and legal entities, including two daughters of russian president vladimir putin.
"The list of Swiss sanctions now completely repeats the list of EU sanctions," the government said in a statement.
On Friday, the EU officially approved new radical sanctions against russia, including a ban on imports of coal, timber, chemicals and all transactions with four russian banks, including VTB.
The Swiss package differs only in that it does not include bans on road and sea transport in the EU. According to Zurich, this is not necessary due to the geographical location of Switzerland.
Last week, the Alpine country said it had currently frozen 7.5 billion Swiss francs ($8 billion) in funds and assets as part of sanctions against the russians.
