russia has spent hundreds of billions of dollars for oil and gas exports on weapons, Zelenskyy says

The leadership of the russian federation has deliberately created conditions for its citizens in which service in the army is the only social lift.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a speech before the South Korean parliament, Ukrinform reports.

Yes, he noted that Russia had spent decades and enormous resources preparing for war against Ukraine. According to him, hundreds of billions of dollars from oil and gas exports were spent on the production and accumulation of weapons. In addition, Zelenskyy noted the long-term training of human resources.

"For the residents of the russian federation itself, such conditions are consciously created when they are forced to live in total utter poverty. When they can't afford even the simplest things: normal food, ordinary household appliances, normal education. When they do not have lifelong basic human rights guarantees. And when service in the army for many of them becomes the only, so to speak, social lift, an opportunity to get at least something in life. At least try to provide for yourself," the Ukrainian head of state stressed.

He said that the ordinary life of Ukrainians and everyday things shocked the russian military. Zelenskyy stated that russian soldiers in the occupied regions were looting and trying to send home looted items from russia, from washing machines to computers, from auto parts to clothing.

"It's a clash of two different worlds. The world of ordinary people who just lived a peaceful life, just wanted harmony for themselves, for their children, thought about the future. And to the world of people who have been especially humiliated by their state for decades, especially driven into poverty and lawlessness, so that their government can send them on many escapades, on any war against neighbors," the President of Ukraine stressed.
