Ukraine will respond to the application form for EU accession within a week, Zelenskyy says

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv, presented the President of Ukraine with a questionnaire for joining the EU. The head of state assured that the document would be completed within a week.

This was discussed at a press conference between Zelenskyy and the head of the European Commission.

"We give you a positive answer to your request (about EU membership – ed.). This folder is the basis for our discussions in the coming weeks. Your journey to the EU begins," said Ursula von der Leyen at a briefing.

The head of the European Commission stressed that she was passing a questionnaire to be answered. She said the process would take weeks, not years. However, Ursula von den Layen said that if Brussels and Kyiv work together, she added that she was handing over a folder with a questionnaire for joining the European Union.

"Thank you, Ursula, we will manage within a week," Zelenskyy replied.

To recap, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU High Representative Josep Borrell, and Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger visited Bucha today, liberated from the russian fascist occupiers.

Ursula von der Leyen later said that they wanted to prepare a conclusion on Ukraine's membership in the EU in the summer of 2022.
