Zelenskyy in a speech to the Irish people: Russia was using another weapon – famine

Destroying agricultural enterprises, agricultural machinery, blocking seaports in Ukraine, Russia considers famine as its weapon

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this, addressing the Irish Parliament.

"They consistently destroy fuel storage facilities, product distribution centers, destroy even conventional agricultural machinery, and mine agricultural fields. They constantly mine everything they leave behind.

In addition, Russia has blocked all our seaports, along with those ships that have already been loaded with agricultural products for export.

Why are they doing this? Because they also consider famine as their weapon, a weapon against ordinary people. As a tool to dominate," Zelenskyy stressed.

The President of Ukraine also noted that Ukraine was one of the leading countries in the world's food market.

"Without our exports, this is not just a deficit, but a threat of hunger for more than a dozen countries in Africa and Asia. Because there will be a physical shortage of products and prices will rise significantly," he said.

According to the President, russia has been using famine since the first days of the war against Ukraine. The worst is in Mariupol. This half-million city was completely blocked by Russian troops more than a month ago.

"They blocked any access: they blocked humanitarian goods, did not allow to bring anything: food, water, medicine.

While there was snow, people could melt at least the snow to get water, but now there is none.

Round-the-clock shelling, airstrikes, and bombing continue. There is not a single building left in Mariupol, not a single undamaged building," Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy also noted that a state that commits such crimes does not deserve to be among others in the international community.
