The EU will expand personal sanctions against russians, Borrell reports

The EU will expand the list of people subject to EU sanctions in connection with russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.

This was announced at a briefing on April 5 by EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell, the EP reports.

According to him, there are dozens of politicians, entrepreneurs, propagandists, as well as companies in the military and other industries, transport, and more.

In addition, the EU High Representative announced some of the officials of the Russian Embassy to the European Union are undesirable, the exact number of whom is currently unknown.

"Russia's illegal and subversive actions against the interests and security of the EU and individual member states, including violations of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, will not go unanswered. Today I declare several officials of russia's Permanent Mission to the EU which contradicts diplomatic status," said Josep Borrell.

As reported by Rubryka, the President of the European Commission has announced the details of the 5th package of sanctions against Russia, which is submitted for approval to the EU Council.

Among other things, it is a ban on coal imports, a complete ban on transactions with four russian banks, a ban on russian ships entering EU ports, and restrictions on imports of high-tech products.
